When early readers are first learning how to break apart or decoding the sounds in words (isolating sounds) and then manipulating sounds to put together words, this is often referred to as ‘Word Attack’ skills
The CVC blending colourful resource uses CVC (Consonant, Vowel, Consonant) 3 letter words to reinforce these word attack skills.  This is an important resource for learn how to segment sounds for phonemic awareness skills as well as identifying the vowel sounds when learning CVC word families.
In the EDSpecially4U  literacy tutor programs we find that the majority of struggling readers require explicit instruction in these word attack decoding skills.  This resource is a first step to reading success for our students
